RYANAIR and high costs due to hand-baggage over 10kg

You can get problems with Ryanair at the airport if you have more than 10kg hand-bagage or it is not the size 55 x 40 x 20 cm. All hand-bagage must be placed exactly in such a lattice (see photo). If you do not follow this rules, the price to be paid when booking could more than double.

But, look out! .. the employees of RYANAIR are in control of hand luggage very exactly. At the airport they check the weight and size of yout hand luggage. Some passengers had to pay more from 30 to 40 €.

On the flight from Girona Costa Brava Airport to Frankfurt-Hahn was a group of female students whose hand-luggage had 10 kg slightly exceeded. RYANAIR did not accepted and demanded the increased fee. Then the students opened their backpacks and put on several pairs of trousers and sweaters, and their hand-baggage was then kg slightly below 10 kg. Then RYANAIR let them into the Boeing 737-800 without additional charge.

How do I get 10 kg hand luggage into the
size 55 x 40 x 20 cm? ??
